Bulkheads
New and replacement bulkheads that hold the yard in place along creeks, coves and the bay.
When the old wall starts leaning, leaking fill or letting the yard slide into the water, it’s time for a new bulkhead. Haywood Marine sets new sheet-pile walls from the barge, backfills behind them and finishes the top so the yard meets the water cleanly.
Working from the water means the excavator can reach the wall line without crossing your lawn, septic field or landscaping. The same barge brings the materials in and carries the old debris out.
Every shoreline is different. We look at the water depth, the bank and what’s already there before recommending a new wall, a replacement in front of the old one, or a stone revetment instead.
Can you replace my old bulkhead?
Yes. Replacing worn-out bulkheads is a big part of this work. We’ll look at the existing wall and recommend the right approach.
Bulkhead or rip-rap: which do I need?
It depends on the shoreline, the water depth and how you use the waterfront. Bulkheads suit boat basins and docking, while stone revetments often suit open, sloping banks. We’ll recommend one after we see the site.
Will the equipment damage my yard?
We do much of the heavy work from the barge on the water side, which keeps machines off your lawn as much as possible.
